Lot Description
1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent. Head Facing Left. C-2. Rarity-3. Poor-1 (PCGS). Heavily worn (the reverse is nearly smooth), although enough diagnostics are discernible to confirm the C-2 attribution. The long digit 7 on the obverse is clearly seen, while on the reverse the spacing between the barely discernible letters AME in AMERICA rules out a C-1 designation. Liberty's portrait and the date are the boldest devices remaining, and both are well outlined. Original medium-brown patina throughout, the reverse revealing a series of fine pinscratches that are hardly significant in such a heavily worn early copper.<br /> This lot includes ANACS Grading Certificate No. WF4185 that carries a grade of Fair/Poor for the coin.
