Lot Description
Undated (1842-1852) August Bechtler $1 Gold. K-24. Rarity-3. 27.G., 21.C. Plain Edge. AU-55 (PCGS). Deep yellow gold with distinctive olive highlights and bold retained luster. Attractive streaks of deep crimson engage the reverse. Somewhat prooflike in appearance, not an unusual occurrence within the type. Choice for the grade with nothing more than a few minor ticks and hairlines betraying its brief stay in commerce. Dies aligned about 350 degrees or nearly medal turn. An altogether pleasing example of this early private gold issue.
