Lot Description
1836 P2C Two Cents, Judd-54, Pollock-57, Low R.6, PR65 Brown PCGS. CAC. The obverse features a small eagle on a cloud, reminiscent of the Draped Bust silver dollar reverse design. The reverse has TWO CENTS in the center surrounded by a laurel wreath. Struck in copper with a plain edge. The dies have medal turn, and a lengthy crack passes through the eagle's right (facing) wing. These were most likely restruck in the late 1850s (or even later) from the heavily cracked obverse. Blue-tinged olive-gold surfaces offer great luster, and the surfaces are well-preserved.
