1855 Pattern Flying Eagle Cent. Judd-168, Pollock-193. Rarity-4. Proof-62 BN (NGC). Copper. Plain edge. Distinctive flying eagle left in a circle of stars, date below. Reverse, denomination at center, wreath and legends around. Deep brown surfaces with lovely original toning accents of mottled pale blue. Sharply struck. A small dark spot is seen off the eagle's wings. A striking type, and among the writer's favorite obverse.
