Lot Description
1858 Pattern Flying Eagle Cent. Judd-203, Pollock-247. Rarity-5. Proof-64 (PCGS). A small eagle flies to the left in the obverse field, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border and the date 1858 below. The reverse exhibits an oak wreath around the denomination ONE CENT, a group of three arrows bound at the base of the wreath. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge.
This is an intricately defined, fully impressed near-Gem with just a few wispy carbon flecks precluding an even higher grade. Nicely reflective in the fields, with even color in a warm tannish-apricot hue.
