1858 Pattern Flying Eagle Cent. Judd-206, Pollock-242. Rarity-5. Copper-Nickel. Plain Edge. Proof-65 (PCGS). OGH. Small or "skinny" eagle flying left, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around, date below, regular-issue wreath reverse. Modestly reflective fields shine forth nicely at more direct angles, at which they offer appreciable contrast to satiny, fully impressed devices. Even light tan patina throughout, with a couple of minor obverse carbon flecks that do not deny Gem status for this snappy looking specimen. One of numerous 1858-dated pattern Flying Eagle cents that were sold at the Mint in 12-piece sets.
