1858 Pattern Indian Cent. Judd-208, Pollock-259. Rarity-1. Copper-Nickel. Plain Edge. Proof-62 (PCGS). Eagle Eye Photo Seal. Obverse and reverse designs as adopted in 1859 for regular issue Indian cents.
The obverse and reverse are pleasing with satin-brown surfaces that show just a trace of mottled color and a minor speck right of the date and on Liberty's cheek. The strike is sharp on the headdress and laurel wreath. Pleasing surfaces for the modest grade.
A fairly common pattern issue but always popular as this is the design adopted for the Indian cent in the following year, and on the correct planchet stock that was used.
