Lot Description
1842 1/2 C Restrike PR63 Red and Brown PCGS. B-2, Low R.7. Series III. The doubled T in CENT characterizes this variety, which Breen (1983) described as a First Restrike. Although we cannot weigh this coin because of the PCGS slab, the obverse die flaw (as produced) at the outside point of star 4 identifies this coin as a Series III striking. The surfaces present olive-orange color that yields to mottled golden reverse undertones at direct angles. Sharply impressed and attractively original, the surfaces would probably grade finer were it not for a pinscratch on Liberty's neck.
