Lot Description
1886/1886 Morgan Silver Dollar. VAM-20. Hot 50 Variety. Doubled Date. MS-65 (NGC). Lovely, soft blended coloration decorates each side of this well struck Gem, in shades of light champagne-gray, russet-red, and sunset-orange. The shimmering surfaces are well preserved. Rare in all grades and a prize for a VAM collector who is working on this series. Examination of the NGC Census and PCGS Population Report finds a total of just 23 examples of this variety that have been certified, and this is the only and finest example that has earned the Gem grade. Furthermore, more than half of those certified are circulated, confirming the rarity and desirability of this variety. As one of the VAM Hot 50 varieties collecting pressure is intense and when one of these crosses the auction block, a strong price is usually seen. A coin with all the desirable features -- rarity, condition and eye appeal.
