Rather smooth in appearance with the worn areas showing lighter copper while the fields have trace roughness and the classic black olive texture. The date is clear along with Liberty. On the reverse the ever strong chain is bold, with the legends surrounding a bit faded on TED but visible. One moderate planchet flaw just touches the chain right of ONE and appears as a void in the metal. An important and desirable type coin that is seldom found this wholesome. These were the first cents produced by our Mint, the designs soon found disfavor with those in charge, and the Wreath cents were launched a few months later, these humble beginnings laid the foundation of American numismatics from our Federal era to today.
