Deep chocolate brown with olive highlights. Well circulated but only minimally marked, and none of those outstanding to the unassisted eye. We note a small rim bruise to the viewer’s right of the date, the only mark of merit. One of 63,353 cents of the Wreath type struck between April and July, 1793, as a replacement for the Chain cents of earlier in the year. Dies by Adam Eckfeldt and assistants, possibly after designs by David Rittenhouse. A sprig or trefoil appears above the date on all 1793 Wreath cents. An ever-popular design type with great pressure of acquisition placed upon it by large cent aficionados and type collectors alike. We imagine the present specimen will attract a lively bout of bidding activity.
