The Sheldon-9 die marriage combines an obverse on which a horizontal stem parallels the top of the date and a reverse with a large, round ribbon bow binding the base of the wreath. The present example illustrates the later state of the dies, with several prominent die cracks (as made) along the reverse periphery from 3 o'clock to 5 o'clock. Glossy deep brown surfaces are generally smooth with a fairly hard, tight texture. A few wispy abrasions on the obverse are noted, even so, but none are particularly worrisome in a mid grade, early date large cent. Boldly defined for the grade, and perfect for inclusion in a circulated type set that requires an example of the one year Wreath cent design.
