Lot Description
1814 1C Crosslet 4 AU58 NGC. S-294, R.1. This coin was previously offered as lot 5147 in our September 2002 sale of the Ohio Collection, where it was cataloged as: "Rich mahogany-brown patina. Well struck except for a pair of right side stars. The truncation of the bust has a faint pinscratch, but the surfaces are elsewhere glossy and pleasing. 1814 marks the end of the Sheldon varieties of Large Cents. The Mint did not produce any Cents in 1815, as it was out of copper planchets. Half Dollars and Half Eagles were struck that year, but only in very low quantities." The coin sold for $1,553 in that sale.
