Lot Description
1724 Wood's Hibernia Farthing. Martin 3.20-D.1, W-12600. Rarity-7. AU-50 (PCGS). 57.8 grains. A deep golden-brown example of a rare die combination with both sides nicely centered and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. No serious circulation marks are present though we must note some natural planchet marks on the reverse. A planchet void, as struck, is seen in the exergue below Hibernia's figure, and a long but shallow planchet furrow runs from the left upright of the H upward to Hibernia's knees. The appearance here of this elusive die combination affords the specialist or advanced type set collector an opportunity to add a Wood's Hibernia farthing of great importance to his or her collection.
