Lot Description
1724 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny. Martin 8.3-L.2, W-13730. Rarity-6. AU-58 (PCGS). 117.1 grains. A rare variety from the final year of the type, here presented in absolutely tip-top condition for a lightly circulated coin. The deep golden-brown surfaces exhibit soft underlying luster and deliver exceptional eye appeal. Marks of any measure are lacking, even under low magnification. An incused N from the reverse legend shows as a clash mark at the first G in GEORGIUS. The accompanying envelope suggests that Richard Picker bought this coin in England and then sold it to Ted Craige. A truly choice specimen that should experience bold bidding activity.
