Lot Description
1860 1C PR67 NGC. Second scarcest issue in the copper-nickel series, this example shows the numerous tiny planchet imperfections, moderate reflectivity in the fields, and not-quite-complete definition on the devices that characterize proof examples of this date. Each side is nearly perfect in terms of post-striking impairments, and the obverse is mostly honey-golden while the reverse has a rich overlay of reddish patina. Very scarce as such, this is the only coin to be so graded by either of the major services with only one other piece finer (4/03).
