Lot Description
(1943) Steel Cent--Obverse Struck Through Capped Die--MS63 NGC. A dramatic steel cent error. The reverse is normal, with peach and steel-blue surfaces that show a small spot below the right wheat stem, but the obverse is distorted, with only the ghost of Lincoln's portrait visible. Superimposed on the faint design are enlarged, inverted echoes of ONE CENT and much of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the result of this piece being struck through an obverse die cap. A fascinating piece that would make an excellent "companion coin" to a die cap error.
