Lot Number:

Grade:
PR64

Price:
$5,175.00
Lot Description
1857 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Proof-64 (PCGS). CAC. OGH. The rarity of pre-1859 U.S. Mint proof coinage means that the 1857 and 1858 are the only realistic proof type candidates from the Type II Silver Three-Cent series. Even these issues are scarce in an absolute sense, however, the current online version of the PCGS Population Report accounting for only about 75 survivors of the proof 1857. Richly original and awash in olive-copper patina, the present example is also fully struck and free of outwardly noticeable blemishes.
