Lot Description
1885 5C MS65 PCGS. CAC. Here is the coin that makes the collector of any 19th century series stop and take notice. The 1885 nickel is scarce and highly valued in all grades. A Good 4 is a $400-$500 coin. In Gem BU probably no more than 50 individual pieces are known with perhaps two dozen finer. This is a brilliant example whose surfaces are thickly frosted. The strike is a bit irregular with some areas complete, others lacking full definition. Marks are minimal, as one would expect, with only a couple of modest abrasions in the field below PLURIBUS. Population: 38 in 65, 18 finer (5/12).
