Lot Description
A high condition rarity at the Gem level and one of the finest seen by NGC of this date and mint. Furthermore, the toning is absolutely stunning, with rainbow jewel tones around the obverse and reverse, enough to earn the only "star" designation from NGC at this grade level for the date and mint. Arguably the most desirable of the handful of Gems seen by that grading service of this issue. Bright and lustrous on both sides, with the glorious toning adding considerable eye appeal to the Gem surfaces. The strike is average or so, with the usual softness on the bison's head but the horn is fully outlined. An exceptional 1920-S Buffalo nickel not only for the Gem level of preservation but for the extraordinary toning.
