Lot Description
1920-S 5C MS65 PCGS. San Francisco nickels from the 1920s are known for their high grade rarity, as well as their difficulty to find with a sharp strike. Often, the dies were used until the mintmark, located just inside the rim, became a nearly illegible blur. The present Gem has a superior strike for the mint and era, since all legends are bold, as is the bison's head and tail. The centers are also well defined, although the braid shows unavoidable minor incompleteness. Moderately toned in honey and lilac shades. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 17 in 65, 1 finer (4/11).
