Lot Description
1928-S 5C MS66 NGC. An attractive example, sharply (if not fully) detailed according to the conditions laid down by Bowers in his Guide Book of Buffalo and Jefferson Nickels, with pleasing definition on the bison's shoulder and other often-weak areas. Both sides are impressively lustrous with delicate blue, gold, and lavender shadings across each side. The 1928-S is famously elusive in the better Mint State grades, though it does not achieve true condition rarity until the MS66 level. NGC has certified a mere eight Premium Gems with only one coin numerically finer (5/10). From The Brenda John Collection.
