1795 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar. BB-13, B-9. Rarity-3. Bowers Die State I. Two Leaves. VF-30 (PCGS). We have no doubt that this mid-grade survivor is a completely original example of our nation's first Silver Dollar type. Both sides exhibit dominant ""old-silver"" patina to moderately, yet evenly worn features. On the obverse, there is also a crescent of bolder steel-gray toning along the right border that encroaches only minimally upon the center. The denticulation on that side of the coin is uncommonly bold for an example of this die marriage, and the major devices on both sides are well defined at the assigned grade level. A few minor abrasions in the right-obverse field are the only distractions of note.
