Lot Description
1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Two Leaves, B-1, BB-21, R.2, AU53 PCGS. Variety BB-21 is one of the more plentiful varieties for this issue, though the Two Leaves subtype in general is still somewhat scarcer than its Three Leaves counterpart. Additionally, the majority of surviving Two Leaves dollars are in the lower circulated grade range, and high-end AU examples are elusive. This example showcases incredibly attractive, original patina, with softly blended lavender, navy, and olive-gold hues underlying a veil of even gunmetal-gray on each side. The strike is bold, as is often seen on this variety, and the light brush of wear over the high points hardly affects the well-defined details. A truly remarkable example, displaying faint hints of original luster in the recesses when turned in-hand. Population: 13 in 53, 40 finer (5/14). From The Kimo Collection.
