1797 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-71, B-3. Rarity-2. Stars 10x6. EF-45 (PCGS). An important type coin for the collector as the Draped Bust, Small Eagle design was issued for just a short time. All are scarce and high grade examples like the present coin are few and far between. Toned with typical light silver-gray with golden accents in the lustrous fields. The strike is sharp and Liberty shows full separation on her curls. Most of the eagle's breast feathers are worn, as expected as these high points of the design are seldom seen. One tiny edge flaw in the planchet is noted between stars six and seven. The surfaces are clean and attractive, with no adjustment marks or bumps to distract the numismatic eye.
