This die variety is one of the more difficult marriages to obtain from the Draped Bust dollar series. It is easy to identify as most of the known specimens exhibit a heavy die crack through the top three digits of the date to the rim below the first star. This crack is always seen in varying degrees of depth, with a couple of the latest strikes showing a cud break below the first star where a piece of the die was pushed well up from the surrounding die surface level. Smooth wear and pleasing surfaces, with light silver-gray dominating and colorful iridescence around the rims. One old scratch through OF serves to identify this high grade example of this popular rarity.
