Lot Description
1802/1 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. B-3, BB-234. Rarity-3. BB Die State II. Wide Date. AU-50 (NGC). A prize at this grade level as so few 1802/1 Draped Bust dollars survive at this grade level. Note the bold definition on Liberty's hair, the curls seldom seen due to wear behind her temple, not so here as the fine definition is intact. Toned with blend of greenish-gold and russet over the surfaces, with areas of light patterns mixed with silver-gray. Faint handling from circulation with shallow nicks and a broken scratch or two, but easy to forgive given the eye appeal and technical state of preservation on this majestic overdate dollar. An exceptional coin from the famed Warren Miller Collection, which over more than 30 arduous years accomplished the incredible feat of obtaining an example of each die marriage of Early silver dollar, including four unique coins, and several others with just two examples known of the variety. Upgrading continues for this famed collection, this offering a case in point, and of quality worthy of any advanced collection.
