Lot Description
1803 Liberty Seated Half Dime. LM-2. Rarity-4. Large 8. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC. Deep golden gray with steel, gold, and slate highlights. Splashes of retained luster enhance the protected areas. An early half dime possessed of great in-hand appeal and surfaces that stand up well to careful examination. Nicely struck for the type with finer than average details for the assigned grade. Just 37,850 examples of the date were struck, a figure that encompasses both the Small 8 and Large 8 varieties of the date--both varieties are of equal scarcity in our experience. A worthwhile Draped Bust half dime for those currently assembling high-grade U.S. type sets.
