Medium steel gray with lively gold and lilac toning highlights. Nicely struck and not heavily marked. New Orleans produced the No Stars obverse type in two years, 1837 and 1838, though by 1838 Philadelphia had added stars to the obverse of the half dime and dime denominations. Completely devoid of marks of any measure.
