Conditionally rare for an example of this otherwise plentiful early Seated Half Dime issue, this handsome-looking 1839 belongs in a high-grade type or date set. Both sides are fully struck with vibrant satin luster. Despite the potency of the mint finish, however, it is richly original toning in steel-gray and pinkish-gold colors that dominates the coin's overall appearance. Silky smooth in sheen--an exceptional representative of the short-lived Stars Obverse, No Drapery type.
