Lot Description
1853 H10C No Arrows AU58 NGC. A lovely example with magenta and pale gray color accented by steel-blue toning near the borders. Both sides exhibit minor clash marks and die cracks. The recorded mintage of this variety is 135,000 pieces, although there is little doubt that a significant portion of those were melted soon after production. Prior to the weight reduction authorized by Congress in February of that year, bullion value for these coins was actually higher than their face value. The result is a scarce issue even though survivors tend to be in better grades. Ex: Jack Beymer (4/1984). From The William A. Harmon Collection of United States Half Dimes.
