Lot Description
1855-O H10C Arrows MS65 NGC. After delivering a respectable total of 1.5 million Half Dimes in 1854, the New Orleans Mint struck just 600,000 examples the following year. The '55-O is, thus, the scarcest issue of the 1853-1855 Arrows type, particularly in the finer Mint State grades. Untoned with a warmly frosted texture, this coin displays remarkably sharp striking detail for a product of the New Orleans Mint. There are no mentionable abrasions, but the obverse exhibits numerous fascinating die cracks and clashmarks (all as struck). Population: 6 in 65, with only eight finer (7/02). Ex: October 2001 Long Beach Signature Sale (Heritage, 10/01), lot 5895.
