1864 Seated Liberty Half Dime. MS-66+ (PCGS). Secure Holder. Very scarce-to-rare in the finest Mint State grades, the business strike 1864 is actually an elusive Half Dime in all grades. One of just 48,000 pieces produced, the present Gem numbers among the finest survivors of this challenging issue. It is semi-prooflike in finish with iridescent reddish-apricot and cobalt-blue toning that is much more extensive on the obverse. Sharply struck in all but one or two isolated areas--a common attribute for the type--with only a few extremely minor abrasions precluding an even higher grade. Very pretty!
