Lot Description
1867 H10C MS65 NGC. With the exception of the 1870-S, the 1867 boasts the lowest mintage (8,000 business strikes) in the Seated Liberty Half Dime series. This coin displays the often-seen obverse die crack (as struck) through the final S in STATES. Bold clashmarks (also are produced) are noted in the field on the same side, but they do not impede one's appreciation of the semi-prooflike finish. We do note, however, that the reflectivity is not as deep on the reverse, perhaps due to some light silver-gray iridescence. With razor sharp striking definition and delicate champagne-gold peripheral accents on the obverse, this no-questions Gem is destined for inclusion in a specialized collection.
