Lot Description
1841 10C MS65 NGC. Late in the previous year, the design for Seated coinage was altered slightly by Robert Ball Hughes. His design changes stayed on the coins until Longacre made extensive design changes in 1860. With more than 1.6 million pieces struck, the 1841 Dime is not an especially scarce coin unless one is seeking the best. This is an extraordinary example of the issue, being struck with incredible sharpness and possessing vibrant mint luster under a nearly complete layering of soft crimson and blue-green toning. Population: 9 in 65, 5 finer (3/05).
