Lot Description
1894 10C MS66 PCGS. The surfaces are prooflike, although the mirrored fields are masked by vivid gold and blue-green toning. Both sides are sharply detailed. It is possible that this may have been an early strike soon after Proofs were produced, if it can be shown that the dies are the same, although such a comparison would be nearly impossible, as this example was struck from essentially perfect dies. Most high-quality survivors of this issue, those in Gem grades, are Proof examples. Few Gem Mint State coins exist today. This example is finer than the Hugon specimen. Population: 5 in 66, 1 finer (11/05). From The Collection of Dr. Steven L. Duckor.
