Lot Description
1928-S 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS. While the 1928-S was one of the better made S-Mint Mercury dimes from the 1920s, examples with fully split bands remain important condition rarities. David Lange writes that "examples having full bands form a minority of the surviving Uncirculated population." Indeed, current PCGS population figures suggest the same: 218 of 539 certified examples are designated as Full Bands specimens. In MS65 and finer grades, Full Bands pieces appear to be slightly more plentiful but the data is always skewed toward higher value coins. This Superb Gem has frosty and fully brilliant silver surfaces with little evidence of toning. Both sides are pristine and virtually unmarked. Population: 7 in 67 Full Bands, 0 finer (3/12).
