Frosty golden surfaces with a trace of attractive rose toning. One of 133,290 "double dimes" of the date struck in Carson City, and the only collectable issue in the series from that mint—its only counterpart, the 1876-CC issue, is considered one of the classic rarities in all of U.S. numismatics. Some striking weakness is noted at the reverse center, not at all an unusual occurrence for the date and design type. Aesthetically appealing.
