Warm antique-gold patina blankets both sides of this boldly struck BU quality survivor. There are no outwardly distracting abrasions, but the reverse does reveal several prominent peripheral die cracks (as made) that include a pair of retained cuds from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock. This is one of the most extensive patterns of die cracks that this cataloger (Jeff Ambio) has ever seen in an 1875-S twenty-cent piece, and the coin is worthy of special consideration by specialists in Seated Liberty coinage.
