Lot Description
1877-CC Seated Liberty Quarter. Briggs 1-A. Repunched Date. MS-65+ (NGC). Fairly bold repunching is evident at the bases of both 7s in the date, this variety also attributable by the presence of a sharp die scratch (as made) on the reverse through the bottom of the horizontal stripes. Also of note are bold clashmarks (again as struck) in the reverse field above the eagle's left (facing) wing, where one can even see a portion of the word LIBERTY from the obverse design. Conditionally rare for an example of this otherwise relatively obtainable CC-mint quarter issue, both sides are sharply struck with a smooth, bright, satin-white sheen. Interesting variety, and a lovely Gem.
