1884 Seated Liberty Quarter. Proof-65 (PCGS). A pretty coin that is sure to endear it self to the collector of originally toned proofs, the obverse of this piece exhibits light powder-blue highlights to dominant copper-rose patination. The reverse is also richly toned, albeit in a wider array of golden-orange, antique-copper, powder-blue and pinkish-lavender colors. More direct angles call forth scintillating reflectivity to the finish, another feature that accents a fully executed strike. An immensely popular date from the end of the Seated Quarter series, the 1884 has a combined proof and business strike mintage of just 8,875 pieces.
