Lot Description
1887 Liberty Seated Quarter. Proof-65 (PCGS). One of the most richly and beautifully toned Proofs in the entire Teich Family holding--rich apricot and rose at the centers deepens to magenta toward the periphery before transitioning to neon blue and pale emerald-gold at the denticles; the reverse boasts a similar bull's-eye toning scheme but is perhaps a degree less intense. Reflectivity is still very bold on both sides, unmuted by the richness of the toning. Similar toning is often thought to be ""artificial"" by the grading services today, however this coin was purchased at time when bright white coins were preferable to toned coins and which rested in the same envelope from the Wolfson sale for the last 5 decades, toning quite naturally.
