Lot Description
1921 25C MS 67 Full Head PCGS. This is one of the finest Standing Liberty quarters we have ever handled, regardless of date. And the fact that it is a 1921 makes this a truly special piece. First, let's take a look at the strike. Full head detail, of course. But the rivets on the shield are all present also, and the inner shield lines are also fully struck. The luster is bright and satiny, making the coin just seem to glow. One could make an argument either way, whether this piece is brilliant or toned. It certainly looks brilliant, but when held beneath a light and angled just right, a very pale overlay of rose-lilac patina can be seen on the reverse. Phenomenal quality and the only one of its kind that has been graded by either of the major services. From the Helen Cookson Collection of 1921 Coinage.
