Lot Description
1927-S 25C MS66 PCGS. CAC. The 1927-S, with a very low mintage of 396,000 pieces, is one of the most elusive issue of the Standing Liberty quarter series, especially in Very Fine and better grades. Moreover, the 1927-S comes weakly struck, particularly on Liberty's head and the shield lines. J.H. Cline (2007) writes that less than one percent are struck with Full Heads. The current Premium Gem offering is awash with bright luster, and displays a few blushes of light brown patina, a bit more so on the reverse. The design elements reveal the typical weakness on the shield, though Liberty's head, while not full, exhibits better definition than normally seen. Well-preserved surfaces show just a few grade-consistent marks. Population: 31 in 66, 4 finer (6/12).
