This near-Gem 1812 half dollar offers sparkling luster and is graced by handsome russet, blue and green iridescent hues on both the obverse and reverse. The surfaces display little or no signs of handling beneath the ancient toning and undiminished luster is apparent. The strike is sharp and the overall presentation is simply stunning. Second finest for the prime Overton-104 die pairing, according to Steve Herrman, behind the Eliasberg Mint State-66 (NGC) coin; others known grade Mint State-64 and below. This particular example was in a long term museum holding and has not appeared in the numismatic marketplace prior to this offering.
