Pleasing surface quality when studied as there are barely any signs of contact. One shallow scratch is found in the central curls on Liberty's head, nothing else detracts from this beauty. Toned with rich golden-gray hues that cover the surfaces in a thick, crusty old antique look, highly desirable on these early half dollars. The strike is average, with minor softness on the upper curls of Liberty and the opposing areas of the eagle. Although the die pairing is common, not many achieve this lofty grade level today. Diagnostic die line connects the eagle's wing to the scroll above, seen on all struck from this reverse die.
