Lot Description
1821 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101. Rarity-1. MS-63 (PCGS). OGH--First Generation. Originality is a hallmark of this impressive Capped Bust half, vivid powder blue and softer golden-tan peripheral highlights enlivening a base of even silver gray patina. Satiny luster is full and vibrant throughout, with modest hints of semi-reflectivity confined to the protected areas around many of the devices. Those same devices are boldly to sharply struck, and all areas are also equally free of outwardly distracting abrasions. A few minor carbon flecks to the obverse notwithstanding, this coin is a strong candidate for a near-Gem grade. An altogether pleasing Choice Mint State example of the date, a coin that should satisfy type collectors and half dollar specialists alike.
