Simply exquisite originality in a Capped Bust Half Dollar, this 1827 boasts vivid olive, powder-blue and reddish-gold peripheral highlights around softer, silver-rose centers. Radiant mint bloom is easily seen despite the fact that the toning dominates the coin's outward appearance. Fully struck from an expertly centered impression, with surfaces that are expectably smooth at the Gem grade level. Neither the fifth edition of the book United States Early Half Dollar Varieties: 1794-1836 by Donald L. Parsley nor the Spring 201 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's Auction & Mail Bid Prices Realized for Bust Half Dollars: 1794-1839 list an example of this die marriage finer than MS-64, which fact confirms this delightful Gem as probable finest known for the variety.
