Lot Description
1895-S 50C MS66 PCGS Secure. Warmly lustrous surfaces glow under peach, russet-gold, blue-gray, and silver toning with one or two small dots of deeper color to be found with a glass. Both sides are pleasingly smooth with only a handful of small flaws. The 1895-S is by no means the lowest-mintage Barber half dollar date, but most of the mintage (slightly over 1.1 million pieces) went directly into circulation before American collectors were awakened to the fascination of mintmarks. In grades above Gem, this San Francisco half is an extreme condition rarity. PCGS has certified just two pieces in MS66 and only two finer (4/12).
