Lot Description
1909-S 50C MS64 NGC. As with most issues in this turn-of-the-century Half Dollar series, the 1909-S possesses an original mintage figure (1.7 million pieces) that is neither excessively low nor particularly high. Also as befits the type, most examples of the '09-S delivery have been either lost or heavily worn in circulation. This conditionally scarce near-Gem displays rich, variegated toning in antique-copper and russet shades. There are isolated blushes of sea-green color in a few of the more protected areas, and neither side reveals any singularly mentionable distractions save for a pair of reverse spots at the eagle's left (facing) wingtip. A coin for the Barber coinage specialist who appreciates originality. Sharply struck.
